My Dad used to have one of these when I was little. He sure did bitch about how much gas it used.

I like Ricardo Montalban, but this commercial just shows hollywood was selling out in 1975. How many of these junkers do you see on the road today? How many do you see restored? Junk. I see more 73 Chevrolet Vegas on the road than this crap. Chrysler builds garbage. Ricardo Montalban was layin some bitches back then.

  8. jfbluges says:

My grandfather had a Dodge Monaco that sucked down the gas like water.

  9. Pictor100 says:

My dad had a ’76 Cordoba – it had the Corinthian leather and a big 400 cubic inch V8 engine (‘small’ Chrysler? Ha!)

It was actually (surprisingly!) well-made for a domestic car of its time – body panels lined up, interior fitments were properly installed, paint job was smooth and well-applied. It was also quite reliable, even on the coldest days.

On the downside, it was a gas hog (nobody bought these things for fuel economy, amyway) and the back seat was cramped.

…that and a 30 million seaside villa is all he needs…the villa is wall-to-wall, rich corinthian leather and tastefully appointed with spoiler and low-rider option package. thaaatttttt….is all….i neeeeed. ohhhhhhh, and some bitches toooo.

  11. Maxwell1901 says:

Is that “Aranjuez Mon Amor” as background music? Herb Alpert did a fantastic cover version of the song a few years after this commercial aired.

  12. spofo says:

lol @ calling that boat small

  13. normvb says:

Did he call that a “small chrysler”? ha ha ha ha!

Yes, I’m a child of the 1970′s and remember cars MUCH larger than that. So funny that we thought this was SMALL back then.

  14. mullahaliackbar says:

Haha cisko213…you’re right…he could sell anything!!!! “Corinthian Soil”!!!!
Ricardo was da bom! I heard him on a talk show (I think it was Letterman) where he was talking about “corinthian leather” and how it was just a made up catchy name!!!

  15. SidJustice1 says:

  19. Lumotaku says:

  20. cisko213 says:

I think Senor Montalban could sell dirt to us and we would be happy.

  21. sorcerio says:

This is a really effective ad. It makes me want to buy that car!

  22. frankd1965 says:

    RIP Ricardo Montalban.

  23. WorldChallenge says:

Chrysler’s brand of leather, made in New Jersey. It’s named after Corinth, Greece, but has nothing to do with the city.
