The question here is: Who is going to bail u out when u or your family is in trouble?? Who’s going to fly u to capital hill to ask for a bailout in a private jet..huh??? And how do u justified helping one and not the others? There are lots of companies closing and going under during this harsh economic times. Why aren’t they getting bailouts? How do u decide that one entity is worth saving and not the others?

I hear people downing the ceo of the auto indust and saying they dont wanna give tax dollars to them. wtf! who cares about the ceo’s and those politicians are just as guilty! save the workers and the AUTOMOBILE INDUSTRY THAT AMERICE INVENTED! did we forget the employees of these companies are TAX PAYERS!
Here we are criticising CEO’s because they asked for bailouts, what about the billions that the US government gives to Israel’s defense forces every year. It’s ridiculous.
That’s the problem with american auto makers, they just want to make money.
I wrote GM and Ford letters 3 years ago, told them basically to start making smaller engines in smaller cars, better interiors, told them to get rid of the ugly fucking bow-tie and the ugly fucking 1800′s blue oval and start spiffy-ing up their image, but did they listen, no, my letter went into the fucking shredder along with all the other letters from other people that saw this coming. Now my taxpayer dollars are going into their bank accounts for to pay for their expenses? Fuck them.
first they blackmail us saying jobs will be lost if we dont give bailout so we did so they spent it and laid off 40,000+
now their asking for more bailout money
wanna bet they’re gonna get the money spend it and lay-off people again
bailout is to maintain their MILLION DOLLAR Salaries and corporate jets

I agree with you in part. I needed a cheap 4dr good on gas. I found an import nearly loaded, good on gas, great warranty, etc. 16500.00 out the door. Looked at comparable american cars and they couldn’t touch it. I live in Michigan and i’m sick of hearing all the you must buy american crap. Only Americans think people should give them business even if they aren’t giving you what you need.
I hate greedy CEO’s just as much as you do. But if auto makers fail, it will be a disaster for not just auto makers but secondary businesses as well. Not to mention, working class people will be without a job. I would have rather seen wallstreet go jobless then the line workers.
Of all the bailouts that have happened I’m not sure why there was such a stink about this one. 25 vs 750 that wallstreet got. Not to mention, this 25 would save working class jobs. I guess we can all see where Washington thinks their friends work.
Kinda like Petraeus flying back and forth between Iraq and Capitol Hill to beg for more taxpayer money to fund the misadventures over there huh?

Exxon has annouced 48 BILLIONS in profits killing the world this year(2008)…..why not take the money where it is and stop joking around? Why use the people’s money when they have some of their own?

In truth car manufactoring is alive and doing VERY WELL in the US right now. Its all happening in the South where employees have the “right to work”. Michigan is union controlled and that is where everyone is hurting. But there is no shortage of car builders (US and foreign) in the Southern states.

I have worked selling Domestic cars for a long long time. There is a definite quality difference between one that is imported. Even the staff at the domestic store (including managers) mostly drove imports. What does that tell you. BIG 3 – stop putting down the competition and start improving, not just criticizing other car companies….ok

Why would Americans buy crappy American cars? Japanese quality beats it hands down, and in the end, people want good prices, reliability, and fuel efficiency. If U.S. cars were competitive, the Detroit companies wouldn’t be fighting off bankruptcy. And no, I would not feel differently in Michigan or any other place, but why would I move to Michigan? In the U.S. American carmakers have the advantage and they STILL can’t compete! Detroit automakers need a playing field so tilted it’s vertical.
